The SKD National
Annually, the SBS National Justice Award Committee acknowledges an individual who believes in the shared responsibility, established by St. Katharine Drexel, of challenging injustice in the world today — someone whose life is infuses with deep religious and moral values; who exhibits a concern for the poor; shows an appreciation of the variety and values in racial and cultural heritages, and is supportive of cultural and social equality among all people.
The 2018 Award Recipient is…
Sr. Patricia Daly, OP
Sr. Patricia Daly, OP was presented with
the award at this year’s GALA Event for
preserving the dignity of all Peoples and in
protecting our environment through her
ministry with Tri-State Coalition for Responsible
Investment and with Interfaith Center on
Corporate Responsibility (ICCR).
Sister Patricia Daly, OP is a Dominican Sister
of Caldwell, NJ and has worked in Corporate
Responsibility and Socially Responsible
Investing for over 40 years. After almost
24 years, she recently concluded her tenure
as Executive Director of the Tri-State Coalition
for Responsible Investment, an organization
of 40 Roman Catholic Dioceses and
Congregations of Women and Men primarily
in the New York metropolitan area, a member
of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility.
Sr. Patricia has invited companies to address
issues of human rights, labor, ecological concerns,
equality, and international debt and capital flows
and played a role in positioning the agenda of
global warming into the priorities of Corporate
America. She serves on the Advisory Board of
Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, the climate
science arm of Columbia University’s Earth
Institute, and Jana Partners, the first hedge
fund to implement corporate engagement and
socially responsible principles. Sr. Patricia
initiated the recent launch of Greystone/
Morgan Stanley’s Climate Finance investment
fund that works to implement the U.N. Sustainable
Development Goals. She is the proud recipient of
the 2014 Joan Bavaria Award presented by Ceres
and Trillium Asset Management, the2017 Legacy
Award presented by ICCR, and holds honorary
doctorates from William Paterson University and
Sr. Patricia Daly’s “willingness to do whatever
possible to bring about a better world of
peace and justice for all; Supportive of
cultural and social equality among all
people” lead to her being honored as
this year’s award recipient.
