Mary writes that after seven miscarriages, her first son was declared deaf at birth. Her parish priest at St. Joseph’s gave her a relic card of St. Katharine Drexel and recommended she pray for baby Paul. The Dupont Clinic confirmed his inability to hear. Mary obtained prayer cards and information from Sr. Inez and gave them to friends and relatives to pray that baby Paul would be able to hear.
On October 17th his parents brought him back to Dupont so that he might be fitted with hearing aids. Dr. O’Reilly tested him again and told his parents there must be a higher power at work because the baby had 90% of his hearing restored. He was thirteen months old on April 11th and a joy to the family who waited so long for this special gift. They are convinced that St. Katharine Drexel’s intercession is that “higher power”.

My husband and I will absolutely pray during the Corpus Christi Novena on June 1 thru June 9. I am part Native American on my mother’s side of the family. I am part Lenape and part Shawnee, so you can see my closeness and bond toward her work.
One of my most awesome experiences was when we were visiting and praying at Saint Katharine’s shrine. I was con- fined to a wheelchair at the time due to an operation on my spine. I was very still and quiet and concentrating on my prayer, when it felt like a light hand was touching the middle of my back. It didn’t startle me. It felt good, like a healing touch. When we started to leave, I told my husband my back felt much better than when I arrived. I believe that Katharine Drexel had heard my prayers and interceded on my behalf. It truly was wonderful. Thank you for taking time read my letter. God bless you all.
