Pope Francis Universal Intention:

Priests and Their Pastoral Ministry

Pray for priests who feel tired and lonesome. Pray that they find help and comfort in their close relationship with Jesus and in their friendships with their brother priests.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. . . liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free . . .”
(Lk 4:18).

Sharing our social tradition more fully and clearly is an essential way to bring good news, liberty, and new sight to a society and world in desperate need of God’s justice and peace.

“The church can use social media to encourage respect, dialogue, and honest relationships — in other words, ‘true friendship,’” said the guidelines, quoting from Pope Benedict XVI’s 2010 World Communications Day message. “To do so requires us to approach social media as powerful means of evangelization and to consider the church’s role in providing a Christian perspective on digital literacy.”

The guidelines point to visibility, community and accountability as three principal areas where the church can make a positive mark in social media.

Grant me, O Lord, your protection. Within your protection, strength. And within your strength, understanding. And within your understanding, knowledge. And within your knowledge, the power of justice. And within the power of justice, the love of all of Creation. Guide and protect my body, my mind, and my best judgment in all things. For you, O Lord, will never leave my side. In this I trust. Amen.
