May we live in solidarity with those who are denied full human dignity, praying for justice, acting justly, and addressing the causes and effects of injustice.

SKD National Justice Award

Annually, the SBS National Justice Award Committee acknowledges an individual who believes in the shared responsibility, established by St. Katharine Drexel, of challenging injustice in the world today — someone whose life is infuses with deep religious and moral values; who exhibits a concern for the poor; shows an appreciation of the variety and values in racial and cultural heritages, and is supportive of cultural and social equality among all people.

Our 2018 GALA Event was also the occasion to honor Sister Patricia Daly, OP, this year’s honoree and
recipient of the 2018 Saint Katharine Drexel National Justice Award.

Sr. Patricia Daly, OP was presented with the award at this year’s GALA Event for preserving the dignity of all Peoples and in protecting our environment through her ministry with Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment and with Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR).

Sister Patricia Daly, OP is a Dominican Sister of Caldwell, NJ and has worked in Corporate Responsibility and Socially Responsible Investing for over 40 years. After almost 24 years, she recently concluded her tenure as Executive Director of the Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment, an organization of 40 Roman Catholic Dioceses and Congregations of Women and Men primarily in the New York metropolitan area, a member of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility. Sr. Patricia has invited companies to address issues of human rights, labor, ecological concerns, equality, and international debt and capital flows and played a role in positioning the agenda of global warming into the priorities of Corporate America.

She serves on the Advisory Board of Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, the climate science arm of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, and Jana Partners, the first hedge fund to implement corporate engagement and socially responsible principles. Sr. Patricia initiated the recent launch of Greystone/ Morgan Stanley’s Climate Finance investment fund that works to implement the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. Sr. Patricia Daly’s “willingness to do whatever possible to bring about a better world of peace and justice for all; Supportive of cultural and social equality among all people” lead to her being honored as this year’s award recipient.
